Background

Vivian Fiatusey Boateng (Ph.D.) received PhD, MPhil, and B.Sc. degrees in Agricultural Economics from the University for Development Studies and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. She is a senior lecturer and Head of the Department of Agribusiness. Vivian served as Quality Assurance Officer at the then Department of Agribusiness Management and Finance. She has provided instruction in Entrepreneurship, Agricultural Marketing, and Biotechnology for Agribusiness, Organisational Behaviour, Organisation Development, and Conflict Management, at the undergraduate level, and the Socio-Economics of Fisheries at the post-graduate level. 

Dr. Vivian offers training programs in entrepreneurship and enterprise development to vulnerable women groups and students in business startups. She has varied interests in critical issues that affect the agricultural sector in Ghana. This includes providing solutions for upscaling the output of agribusiness, enhancing the connection between producers and consumers, as well as providing a benchmark for measuring the outcome of such interventions. Her current research is focused on food marketing, fisheries economics, sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. She has also collaborated on several research and development projects, funded by the African Development Bank – under the auspices of the United Nations University Education for Sustainable Development in Africa (ESDA) and the USAID ADVANCE.
