Ahmed Rufai Mahama (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Soil Science. He was appointed as the Head of the Department of Agronomy for two years, commencing from August 2019. His professional experience with the University for Development Studies spans up to twenty years. He has taught Introduction to Soil Science, Soil Genesis, Survey and Classification, Soil Physics and Chemistry, Soil Microbiology, Integrated Soil Fertility Management, Environmental Soil Chemistry, Fertility and Plant Nutrition, at the undergraduate level. The courses of instruction he has handled at the postgraduate level are Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition and also Soil Microbiology. The research areas he is involved in are Environmental Pollution of Soil and Water, Soil Fertility Management and Plant Nutrition. Dr. Mahama has conducted extensive soil status research and agronomic field trials across northern Ghana. He has been involved in collaborative research with MoFA, SARI and FERRARI.
