Background
Olufisayo Oluwadamilare Leigh is a Professor and the Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in the School of Veterinary Sciences (SoVS) at the University for Development Studies, Tamale. He attended the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, between 1989 and 2013 where he bagged his degrees in Veterinary Medicine i.e. DVM (1997), MVSc. Veterinary Reproduction (2006) and Ph.D in Theriogenology (2013). At the professional level, he holds the following certifications: Cert. IVEP, OPU & ET (Nairobi, 2011), Cert. Reprod. USS (Polans, 2013), Cert. Artificial Insemination Technology (Nigeria, 2014) and FCVSN (2016). Within the active eighteen (18) years of teaching and research in Nigeria (2006 - 2024), Professor Leigh taught Theriogenology at both the University of Ibadan and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Professor Leigh was a 2010 beneficiary of the MacArthur sponsored Academic Linkages programme and also served as Principal Investigator on a 2021 national study, sponsored by Arpexas Ltd. Scotland, on the challenges of artificial insemination in Nigeria. He has also served (2024) as Lead Trainer on World bank-sponsored Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project. Professor Leigh has more than 70 scientific publications, including 3 textbooks in his field of specialty, to Gods glory. His field of research is Assisted Reproduction Techniques. He was promoted Full Professor in October, 2019. He is a member of some professional bodies such as NVMA, SFT, ESDAR and SARI.
