Background

Ms. Fauzia Yarim Laar is a Lecturer in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences with 4 years of professional experience at the University. As a lecturer, she provides instruction in a variety of courses including Introduction to Family and Consumer Sciences, Introduction to Child Studies, Principles and Administration of Child Care Programmes, Home Furnishing and Management, Late Childhood Adolescence, Early Childhood Education, Child and Adolescent Behavior Problems, and Current Issues in Child Studies at the undergraduate level. Miss Laar's primary research interests are in Family and Consumer Sciences, particularly in the areas of child development and learning (from infancy to young adulthood), child protection and safeguarding (especially minors), and Quality in Early Childhood Education for children's holistic development. She is passionate about improving the quality of life of individuals through her research. Miss Laar recently completed an online Child Protection e-training programme from the Pontifical Gregorian University - Centre for Child Protection in Rome. She is now even more equipped to address issues of child protection and safeguarding in her research. Currently, Miss Laar is working on developing a quality assessment tool to measure the quality of child care services in Ghana and strategies to improve adolescent development and wellbeing through research. Her goal is to help ensure that children receive the highest quality of care possible, which will positively impact their development and well-being. In addition, she is involved in substantive research to address key day-to-day family issues. She has also developed an interest in the general wellbeing of adolescents especially regarding their health, sexuality, behavior, socio-emotional development, identity formation and general development. Miss Laar is deeply committed to the field of Family and Consumer Sciences, and she has a true passion for child development. Her dedication to these areas has driven her to strive to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals through her work and research. She is excited about the potential that her research has to improve the lives of children and families, and she looks forward to continuing to contribute to the field in the future.
