Background

Ms. Anastasia Amenya is an Assistant Lecturer in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department under the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Science, University for Development Studies. Her special area of interest is in Clothing and Textiles. She has 14 years of professional experience of instruction in Clothing and Textiles in second cycle institutions. She has provided instruction in the following; the study of Fibres and Fabrics, Sewing Processes, Fashion Trends, Clothing Design and Construction. Then Philosophical Foundations of Home Economics, Manipulative Processes and Skills in Home Economics, Foundations of Social Studies and Technical, Vocational Education and Training at the College of Education. Subsequently, she will be giving instructions in Basic Techniques in Garment Construction, Garment Construction and Textiles and Fibres. She is also interested in creative crafts and needlework. Anastasia Amenya has conducted research on Printex (Ghana) black and white printed fabrics with crepe finishes, investigating how the structural attributes of the fabrics with crepe finishes are affected after three washing cycles using key soap and standard soap from the Ghana Standard Authority laboratories; this research work won the Deans award (September 2018) at the UCC. She has also been involved in collaborative research on Physical Properties of Fabrics: Chemical Composition of selected detergents on colourfastness of GTP wax print and ATL wax print (indigo) in Ghana.
