The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seidu Al-hassan has embarked on a week-long official assignment that will see him visit all Directorates, Schools, Faculties, Centers and Institutes within the University to interact with faculty and staff. The roadshow forms part of the Vice-Chancellor’s plans to share his vision with the University’s internal publics. The Scheduled meetings with the various Directorates, Schools, Faculties, Centers and Institutes also aims at seeking firsthand information regarding their work, challenges and how best Senior Management can help mitigate such challenges.
On the first day, the Vice-Chancellor spent several hours interacting with faculty and staff at the Nyankpala Campus of the University. Some of the places he visited include the School of Economics, the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, the University Library, the School of Biosciences and the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment.
While addressing staff at separate meetings at each place he visited, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan outlined his vision statement and pledged to create a culture that promotes research, teaching and learning, administrative processes and extension activities driven by technology and anchored in humanism.
Faculty and staff present at the meetings also enumerated a number of challenges that affect their work. These challenges include inadequate office space and lecture halls, inadequate water supply, internet connectivity, difficulty faced by students in accessing their portals, inadequate number of projectors and inadequate security lights on the Nyankpala Campus in particular. The staff members also shared innovative and creative solutions to the numerous challenges with the Vice-Chancellor.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seidu Al-hassan appealed to the staff to think of what they could do in a sustained manner to support the vision. He agreed that there are a plethora of challenges facing the university but reassured the staff that the potential for growth looks great but can only be achieved if everyone works to ensure that targets are met.
