As part efforts to strengthen the existing relationship between the University for Development Studies (UDS) and FH MUNSTER University of Applied Sciences, Germany, the two universities, on May 29, 2023, signed a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of a newly formed relationship between the two institutions.
The Delegation from the FH Munster University of Applied Sciences, Germany, led by the Director for the Centre of Competence for Humanitarian Relief, and Department of Food-Nutrition-Facilities, Prof. Dr. Jan Makurat, and a Research Assistant, Eleonore Vretz, met with the Principal of the Nyankpala Campus, Prof George Nyarko, who is acting for the Vice-Chancellor of UDs, who is on an official assignment outside the country together with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar. Others at the meeting were, the Acting Registrar, Mr. Edward B. Broni, the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Food And Consumer Sciences, Prof. Terry Ansah, a Senior Lecturer, Food Science and Technology, Dr. Fortune Akanbanza and the Director of the Directorate of International Relations and Advancement, Prof. Courage Kosi Saba Setsoafia.
The Partnership which began in 2022, has witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the two universities to foster cooperation in the areas of exchange programs for lecturers and students in teaching and research, working together in planning development and research as well as holding joint lectures, courses, seminars, conferences, excursions and work placements, facilitating exchanges between lecturers in teaching and research and by making teaching material available to each other, exchanging students and by assisting them professionally in a practical semester or trimester, recognizing and accepting each other’s qualifications, cooperating in advanced training or in-service training of lecturers and teachers, sharing and exchanging information, working together on joint publications and promoting the knowledge of each other‘ s languages and culture.
The visit by the delegation from the FH Munster University of Applied Sciences, is a follow-up visit to UDS, after the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Science, Prof. Terry Ansah and some staff visited University of Applied Sciences, in February, 2023.
Prof. George Nyarko, said he is very happy for the new relations between the two institutions, as it will create more opportunities for both universities. He also stated that, he is hoping their relationship will go a long way to produced more outstanding outcomes in the future.
Prof. Jan Makurat, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome. He said the partnership is crucial to his institution, as a result of which they were looking forward for both universities working together to achieve their goals.
The new relationship between the University for Development Studies and the University of Applied Sciences is a significant development for the academic community and a positive step towards fostering greater collaboration and cooperation among universities.
