UDS Men's Football Team Qualify for Quarter Finals, Others on the Brink of Qualification

Team UDS has so far, shown prospects of sweeping many medals at the ongoing 27th Edition of the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Team UDS has displayed some very good performances from across all events they have participated in.

While the Athletics competition is slated to start later today (10-11-2022), the Men’s football team has already qualified for the Quarter Finals of the competition. This comes after they won all their three group game matches, grabbing all available 9 points to top their group which included AMMUSTED, UPSA and SDD-UBIDS. The UDS men’s football team beat their opponents 3-0, 4-1, and 4-1 respectively.

The women’s football team stands on the brink of also qualifying to the next stage of the competition after seeing off AMMUSTED on penalties with an 8-7 victory after a goalless draw in regulation time.

The other UDS teams that are also on the verge of qualifying to the next stage of the various competitions include the handball team, (men and women), volley ball team, (men and women), basketball team (men), Badminton team (men and women), Table Tennis team, (men and women) and Beach Volleyball team (men).

In athletics, Team UDS is expected to build on its most recent performances at the FASU games in Kenya to sweep most of the medals at the 27th GUSA games. Even though there are fears that Sarfo Ansah, one of the key sprinters in the country at the moment, may not be available for UDS due to injury, the experience of Barnabas Asante Aggerh, the reigning Champion of the Ghana’s Fastest Human Competition 2022, who was also part of Ghana’s team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games is expected to kick in to help win laurels for UDS.
