UDS Hosts GTV Breakfast Show Team for Two-Day Special Broadcast

The University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale Campus, played host to the GTV Breakfast Show team for a two-day special live broadcast from Thursday, March 27, to Friday, March 28, 2025. The event featured engaging discussions with academic and administrative staff, shedding light on key developments and contributions of the university.

Throughout the two-day period, leading presenters Kafui Dey and Maltiti Sayida Sadick led various segments, engaging distinguished faculty members in insightful conversations.

On the news review segment, guests included Prof. Jasper Ayelazuno, Dean of the Faculty of Communication; Prof. Adams Sulemana Achanso, Dean of the Faculty of Sustainable Development Studies; Prof. Terry Ansah, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences, Prof. Linda Dari, Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, School of Engineering; and Prof. Mohammed I. Gunu, Dean of the Faculty of Education.

These experts provided in-depth analyses of national and educational issues, offering perspectives rooted in academia and research.

Health discussions were also a key feature of the broadcast. Dr. Abdul Nashirudeen Mumuni, Director of the Diagnostic Imaging Research Center, granted an interview on the use of radiotherapy in cancer treatment, explaining its impact on improving healthcare delivery in the country. On the second day, the Director of University Health Services, Dr. Abubakari Bawa Abdulai took center stage in the health segment, discussing Hepatitis B, its causes, prevention, and treatment options.

A major highlight of the two-day broadcast was an exclusive interview with the Vice-Chancellor of UDS, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan. He highlighted the university's progress since its establishment and its contributions to community service through the innovative Third Trimester Field Practical Programme. He also addressed infrastructural challenges facing the institution and outlined measures being implemented to construct lecture halls, office spaces, and hostel facilities to accommodate the growing student population.

"UDS continues to expand its academic programmes to meet a variety of interests. We encourage all prospective students, regardless of their backgrounds, to consider UDS as their institution of choice," Prof. Seidu Al-hassan stated.

The Vice-Chancellor also spoke about recent achievements of the university, including international awards, sports excellence, and academic milestones.

To add a touch of entertainment to the broadcast, the UDS Choir performed patriotic songs, while the UDS Performing Arts Ensemble thrilled audiences with a captivating cultural display.

The two-day special broadcast underscored the university’s commitment to academic excellence, research, and community engagement, reinforcing its role as a leader in tertiary education in Ghana.
