During this inaugural lecture, Professor Stephen Tabiri , Dean of the UDS School of Medicine, a professor of Surgery with a central research interest in Applied Health to Improve Patient Outcomes Following Major Surgeries and who teaches surgery at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and who is responsible for postgraduate training in surgery and the convenor of Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons’ Basic Surgical Science Training Course in the Tamale Teaching Hospital, will discuss “Inguinal Hernia Management: Developing and Implementing Local Solutions”
During this inaugural lecture, Professor Stephen Tabir is expected to review the progress made in collaborative research activities in surgery and beyond over recent years, including what lessons have been learnt.
He will then go on to present his thoughts on the possible future directions of both surgery and surgical research regarding Inguinal Hernia Management and how we can strive to further improve the quality and quantity of surgical research over the coming years and thereby effect the most important change – Developing and Implementing Local Solutions”
The Inaugural Lecture which comes off at 2:00pm on April 28, 2002, at the Multipurpose building on the Tamale Campus, will be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye.
