The Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Prof. Elliot Alhassan, paid a visit to the UDS contingent participating in the ongoing Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games in Cape Coast to commend their efforts and encourage them to pursue further victories.

Upon his arrival at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), which is hosting this year’s games, Prof. Alhassan joined spectators to witness the nail-biting semi-final basketball game between UDS and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The intense match showcased the unwavering determination of the UDS team, drawing applause from the crowd and earning commendation from the Pro Vice-Chancellor.

Following the basketball game, Prof. Alhassan made his way to the Robert Mensah Stadium to support the UDS men’s football team in their semi-final match against the host team, UCC. Despite a valiant effort by the UDS players, the team narrowly lost 1-0 to their opponents.

Addressing the players after the match, Prof. Alhassan praised their hard work and resilience, urging them to stay motivated for the bronze medal contest. “You have made us proud with your outstanding performances so far. This is just a minor setback, and I believe you have what it takes to finish strong and win the bronze for UDS. Keep your heads high and remain focused,” he said.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor’s words of encouragement were met with resounding cheers from the athletes, whose spirits were visibly uplifted by his presence. Many of them expressed gratitude for his support, pledging to give their all in the remaining competitions.

The UDS female football team, in particular, has vowed to bring glory to the university by winning the ultimate title in their category. “We are determined to make up for where our male counterparts fell short.
