The President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi has inaugurated a 16- Member  Local Organizing Committee charged with the  responsibility of planning and executing events and activities in respect of the  Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) games to be held in January 2018. This was at a well attended Ceremony held at the University for Development Studies’ International Conference Centre in Tamale, on Tuesday, 18th April, 2017.

Inaugurating the Committee, Mr. Nyantakyi lauded the initiative by the University of Ghana to introduce Sports related programmes and urged UDS to do same. He expressed his joy at the invitation extended to him by the University Management to inaugurate the Committee and pledged his unflinching support for university sports in general, and development of sports in UDS in particular.

The celebrated football administrator entreated UDS to seize the opportunity as host of the games to garner more trophies and eventually emerge as the overall winner of the competition.

For his part, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of UDS and Chairman of the LOC, Prof. Seidu Al-Hassan observed that education and sports were inseparable and that the latter had proved to be a very effective tool for developing, uniting, and inspiring people. He expressed satisfaction with Management’s efforts towards developing sports in UDS, noting that the establishment of a sports directorate and the subsequent appointment of a Director of sports demonstrated commitment on the part of Management.
