Background

University for Development Studies has an interest in collaborating to sustainably address challenges in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector in Ghana.

In the light of this shared interest, we intend to organize a two-day WASH Conference to take place on the Navrongo campus of UDS on August 1-2, 2017. Expected to attend will be WASH experts across the spectrum, WASH practitioners, WASH policy makers and framers, WASH beneficiaries, WASH consultants, WASH contractors, NGOs in WASH, and even WASH sector sympathizers. In addition, we expect to attract technical experts in WASH, academia interested in WASH activities, public health experts connected to WASH, and also persons with expertise in various aspects of WASH, including engineering, industrial hygiene, public health, business and enterprise management in subsistence marketplaces, and behavior modification. The conference will highlight research in WASH, lessons, challenges, best practices and successes chalked in WASH over the years in Ghana. The conference will also provide a forum for better collaboration between academia and practice, in order to deliver sustainable WASH in all our communities in which we work. Finally, the conference will seek to explore and identify areas for future collaboration and research.
